THE EVENT BROKE ITS OWN RECORD WITH MORE THAN 9,100 ASSISTANTS
ITS GLOBAL EXPOSURE INCREASES STONGLY IN SOCIAL NETWORKS AND THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA ATTENDANCE
THE 48TH EDITION WILL BE HELD FROM 12 TO 20 JUNE 2020
The Huesca International Film Festival has reviewed the results of its 47th edition which attracted more than 9,100 spectators. The figure exceeds the record hit last year (over 8,500 people) and maintains the growth of the last six editions. The data illustrate the impact of the event and “show the potential of the Festival, the image that Huesca gives locally and abroad, with the short film as the core of our programming”, pointed out its director, Rubén Moreno. The competition sessions scheduled at the Olimpia Theatre strengthen this assesment. As a matter of fact, the record was broken on two consecutive occasions over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) reaching the final figure of 235 attendees.
The galas, as well as the premiere feature film show, were also welcomed by the public. The two ceremonies, where the tributes of this edition were delivered to Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Isabel Peña (City of Huesca Carlos Saura Award), EGEDA (Pepe Escriche Award) and Marisa Paredes (Luis Buñuel Award), were almost full house. As for the films screened in the evening session, the international premiere of the Argentinean documentary Gran Orquesta, directed by Peri Azar was a hit with over 400 seats booked.
One of the main objectives of the festival is to foster social impact of culture and reach a wide audience, for this reason, it maintained offerings such as “Seniors to the Festival”, “Children to the Festival”, as well as partnerships with CADIS , the Aragonese Institute for Women, the LGBT + collective, the San Jorge University, among others; A further step has been taken this year: a new collaboration has been initiated, through TAP Consultoría, with the Blood and Tissue Bank of Aragón in order to support the World Day of Blood Donation. Similarly, a work has been carried out together with various promotion and economic development groups of the city, with specific actions with the Asociación de Comercio and guided tours of the city and the province to promote its potential as a shooting location.
IMPACT IN AMERICA, EUROPE AND ASIA
The international exposure of the Festival is reflected in its media impact across three continents with publications in American, European and Asian papers and magazines, in countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Iran or Venezuela, together with radio broadcastings and television appearances in primetime schedules.
Social networks have experienced a remarkable growth with an increase in their social reach capacity of about 1,000 users. The official profiles of @festivalhuesca already exceed 6,500 followers. Furthermore, the website reached nearly 50,000 visitors between March and June, with over 1,500 visits a day during the festival.
The yearly budget of 200,000 euros, is reverting in an economic valuation that would amount to several million euros and growing year after year. Its impact in the local economy is deep, partly due to the priority given to using local suppliers which represent around 95% of the total support service expenditure.
THE 48TH EDITION FROM 12 TO 20 JUNE 2020
The Huesca International Film Festival announced the date of thr celebration of its 48th edition: the event will take place from Friday 12 to Saturday 20 June. The confirmation of the dates may be appointed by filmmakers from all over the world who have shown high interest in participating. At the same time, it is a new goal for the organization team which has already started working on a program that could match the prestige of a festival that serves as a pre-selection for the Oscar and Goya Awards in its three competitions: International, Ibero-American and Documentary film.
Announcing in advance the next date is a key strategic information, “it is very important that both the public and film professionals know when the next edition will take place since many of them prepare their works for our competitions, the expectation is very high and we must respond with a top level proposal; We are realistic, but we do not set limits “, explained Rubén Moreno. The countdown starts again and the work team is already on the go, “it’s a long-distance race; the result of each edition is important, but the ultimate goal is the worldwide image projected by the festival of the city, the province and its professionals, and that is why it seeks to bring together and include all sectors of society in Huesca” added the director of the festival.
The Huesca International Film Festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the Government of Aragon, the Provincial Council of Huesca (Diputación), the City of Huesca, the Anselmo Pié Foundation and with the collaboration of Obra Social “la Caixa” and TUHUESCA.
