PATRICIA IN THE DARK

Born into a world where the word transgender didn’t exist, 92-year-old Patricia spent most of her life constraining her true identity to the safety of darkness – cinema auditoriums and photography darkrooms – living literally and figuratively in the dark.

Laura is an award-winning independent documentary maker with a passion for storytelling and an eye for human interest narratives. She has held roles in producing and developing with captains of industry like the BBC, Endemol Shine, and SBS, as well as boutique indie production companies. In 2023, she released her directorial debut, the AIDC Award-nominated short film Patricia in the Dark, which she also produced and edited. To date, the film boasts selection for 19 festivals around the world.
