CARLOS VAL
Zaragoza, 1977. Screenwriter and film director. Graduated in Audiovisual Communication. In 2020, he co-directed the series El ultimo show with Álex Rodrigo (produced by Aragón TV). Also in 2020, he premiered his second feature film, Planeta 5000. In 2014, he made his debut in feature films by co-writing and co-directing Bestfriends with the German Jonas Grosch, awarded with three Simón awards from the Aragonese Film Academy (Best Feature Film, Direction, and Screenplay). He has produced, written, and directed several award-winning short films such as Tengo un secreto and El iglú. He has won the Isabel de Portugal Screenplay Award for two consecutive years with the feature films Laya (2022) and La hierba dura (2023). In the field of teaching, he has conducted workshops for the University of Zaragoza, San Jorge University, and St. Polten University (Austria). Currently, he is a teacher of Higher Degree cycles in Audiovisual Production and Direction at CPA Salduie (Zaragoza). He directs the podcast Tertulia Carpenter, where, along with other directors, they analyze imperfect films by imperfect directors (like themselves).
