Maria Trigo Teixeira

Maria Trigo Teixeira (Lisbon, 1990) is an animation filmmaker based between Porto and Berlin. She graduated in Animation in the Film University Babelsberg (DE) and in Communication Design in the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto (PT).

Her graduation film “Inside me” was awarded at international film festivals and won the German Short Film Award, qualifying for the Oscars.

Between 2016‐2021 she programmed the monthly sessions of the Shortcutz Berlin festival.

Her latest short film “It shouldn’t rain tomorrow” premiered in Annecy in 2024 and won the Portuguese National Animation Award, among other international awards. The original drawings and work process from the film were exhibited at ANIMAR 20 in Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery (PT).

In 2025 she took part in the Berlinale Talents programme and started lecturing at IPCA (PT).

Currently she is working on a new short film – Man and Dog – a tragic-comedy about power play in relationships.
