ARMANDO CASAS

Film director, writer, and producer. He holds a degree in Cinematography from the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos and has been a full-time academic at the institution since 1991.

He has produced over twenty feature-length fiction and documentary films, and directed the feature films Un mundo raro, Familia Gang, and Malacopa, as well as dozens of short films, documentaries, and television programs. He has delivered lectures on various film topics at international schools and universities and at leading Mexican institutions. He has also served as a juror at numerous international festivals. Furthermore, he is the author and coordinator of twelve books on film and philosophy, and co-authored a pair of books on Mexican cinema. He has also written dozens of articles on film topics.

Currently, he serves as the President of the Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences. Previously, he held various positions, including director of the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos, general director of TVUNAM, and general director of Canal 22.
