Alejandro Cortés Calahorra

A film director and screenwriter, he is a member of the Spanish Film Academy. He has written and directed the feature films Refugios (2015) and Carrasca (2019), which have been screened at festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, as well as shown in cinemas, on television, and on digital platforms. He was also co-director of Reset (2020) and served as director of research and documentation for the documentary Héroes: Silencio y Rock & Roll (2021), which was nominated for the Goya and Forqué Awards.
His upcoming feature film, Made in 1999, has been selected by the Torino Film Lab and the Residencia Navarra, and has received accolades such as the RECMatch 2024, the IBERMEDIA LabGuion Colombia Grant, and the Santa Isabel de Aragón Screenplay Award. He is currently writing and directing Álex’ s Suitcase, focused on the figure of Álex Angulo, a project that has been selected for ZINEBI 65 Networking and MAFIZ-Mercadoc at the 2025 Málaga Film Festival.
