Ahmed El Housni

Ahmed El Housni is a prominent figure in the Moroccan cultural and cinematic landscape. He taught at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan, in the Comic Art Department, from 2000 to 2022, contributing to the training of several generations of artists.
He is the founder of the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, established in 1985. He served as its director from its inception until 2016, and then as its president from 2016 to 2024, strengthening its presence on both the regional and international film scenes.
In parallel, Ahmed El Housni directed the film magazine Wachma, a specialized publication that released 17 issues, offering critical and in-depth reflections on Mediterranean cinema.
He was also the artistic director of the Tangier Mediterranean Short Film Festival between 2017 and 2019. Deeply committed to film education, he coordinated the network of school film clubs from 2000 to 2016, promoting cinematic culture among young audiences.
His passion for the seventh art has also led him to participate in numerous festival juries, both in Morocco and abroad, notably at the National Moroccan Film Festival in Meknes, the Tangier Short Film Festival, as well as festivals in Egypt, Alexandria, Oran, and other European and Arab cities.
