While Prime Minister Modi announces the world’s toughest, longest, and most unbearable Covid-19 lockdown in India, 11 million migrant workers stuck without livelihood in cities are forced to walk back to their villages. As many will walk to their death in this unprecedented exodus from cities, will Modi’s tragic call be able to trigger a moment of resistance and revolution?

Shirley Abraham and Amit Madheshiya are Cannes award-winning Indian documentary filmmakers. Their debut film The Cinema Travelers, premiered as Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival 2016, winning the Special Jury Prize for L’Oeil d’or: Le Prix du documentaire. The film has won 19 awards globally, including the President’s Medal in India. Shirley and Amitare are members of the documentary branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
