Vibol and his brother Kea sell noodles on a motorized cart every night on the streets of Phnom Penh. They often face troublesome threats from gangsters and thieves, even if these very people are their only customers. As the city is growing around them, they consider their unstable income and imagine a different future.

Chanrado Sok, Kongkea Vann

Chanrado Sok studied film and worked at Bophana Center, the audiovisual resource organization founded by filmmaker Rithy Panh. Sound of the Night (World Premiere at Locarno Film Festival 2021) is his first short fiction. Kongkea Vann graduated in film from the department of cinema at the School of Media of Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) in 2016 in Phnom Penh. Sound of the Night is his first short film as co-director and cinematographer where he could shape his artistic approach further than the technical field.
