NOTHING SPECIAL

Between four walls, two women are waiting. One for death to come and get her, the other is waiting to finally begin her life. Based on a recorded conversation, the film simulates their attempt to escape what they can’t help but live, as they realise that “nothing” can sometimes be special.

Efrat Berger

Director and editor, Efrat Berger studied experimental film at the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design, and later earned a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies. Her debut docu-animated short, Nothing Special, premiered at Clermont-Ferrand in 2024. Letter to a Pig (directed by Tal Kantor, 2022), which she edited, has been nominated for the Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards. Efrat is currently developing her next fiction short, La Fosse.
