MALILA

During her vacation, Malila comes across a mysterious alley and soon finds herself in a fascinating carnival filled with fantastic figures. The lively atmosphere pulls her deeper and deeper into the event. But as she becomes suspicious of her surroundings, the illusion can’t be sustained, and her newly discovered world turns against her.

Arun Leander Boudodimos, Martina Spitzner

The two directors developed the short film Malila in collaboration during their studies at the Film University Babelsberg. Martina initially studied at the Art School Berlin and later specialized in character design and animation. In addition to 2D animation, Leander focused on VFX and compositing. For their joint graduation project, they developed a new workflow and visual style to further utilize the strengths of their 2D animation.
