EL RESSÒ DE LA MIRADA

The Echo of the Gaze is a documentary essay on the burden of filming pain. Revisiting discarded footage from Gaza 10 years ago, the director reflects on the gaze, cinematic ethics, and the transformative power of images.

Carles Bover

Carles Bover (Mallorca) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and specializes in documentary filmmaking. In 2014, he gained recognition for the report Inclusió amb data de caducitat, and in 2015 directed Escucha mi mirada, selected by several festivals. In 2017, he co-directed Gaza, a documentary short filmed in the Gaza Strip, which won the Goya Award for Best Documentary Short (2019). In 2023, he released Hijos de África, a film about child exploitation in Benin, which received awards and was preselected for the Goya Awards. He is currently developing his first feature-length documentary, Destrucción creativa de una ciudad.
