42nd edition of Huesca International Film Festival successfully launches with regard to the number of entries submitted, a total of 1782 short films, a higher figure to the 1500 entries expected by the organization. This figure confirms the national and international prestige of the festival, ‘during these two months in which we have been receiving entries, it has been evident that Huesca is a world reference for short film makers, an unmissable date in their agenda’ said festival director Jesús Bosque. A total of 68 countries are represented in this shortlist, works coming from the five continents that are already being evaluated by the jury members in charge of providing the final selection which will be screened between 16th and 21st June. Countries as different as China, United States, Namibia, Israel and Finland with documentary, fiction or animation ranging from classical fim narrative to the new tendencies set by the film industry.
The digitalisation of the shorlisting process through the platform Festhome has expedited all the procedures both for short film directors and promoters and for the very festival as well, making submission possible for works which otherwise would not have the opportunity to get to a festival like the one in Huesca, which helds its 20th anniversary as early shortlister to the Oscar Awards to Best Fiction Short Film.
Next step will be to select the final works and arrange the schedule that, as claimed by the festival director, ‘will be properly cared for and fussed over as it is the essence of the Festival’.
