In 1959, during Franco’s regime, the town of Escó was expropriated for the construction of a reservoir. Everyone left the town except the Guallar family, who refused to leave their house and cattle. Today, the brothers Félix, Baltasar and Evaristo Guallar are the only inhabitants. But his world is threatened again when they start building a highway.

Based on three stories, an old married couple, the memory of a suicide who spent his last days spending and giving away what he had in the area, and a huge shooting of Jacques Audiard’s latest film, Amateur proposes an intimate portrait of a town in mountain.
Martín Gutiérrez
Until the age of 18, he lived in a small mountain town, from where he decided to go to study cinema in Barcelona. He continued his studies in screenwriting in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and won an award to do an official master’s degree in Digital Art. With his friends from college he founded a rock group that allowed him to tour different countries in Europe and the United States. After the adventure, he combined film editing with directing experimental pieces and teaching within the Cinema en Curs project. Amateur is his first documentary film project as a director.
