Pieza videográfica de Ricardo Calero en la exposición Natura Tiempo y Memoria. 1994-2022
en colaboración con el Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Madrid.
Siempre necesario/Always necessary… illustrates the author’s view of the thoughts and reflections related to the other in his public art projects. Ricardo Calero combines sculpture, nature, the passage of time and the word, to build a new narrative around that necessary space for an interior and exterior meeting.
In the year 2008 he received a commission for a hospital to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The artist decided to create a Meeting point. In addition to plants and seeds that give shape and life to the work, it was made of 52 words selected from interviews with patients and their families, as well as with the medical staff who took care of them, turning these feelings into an essential part of the work.
In 2011 he was selected by the curator Olivier Kaeppelin, director of the Marguerite et Aimé Maeght Foundation in France, to participate in the Blickachsen International Biennial, in Germany, and designed a creation for that purpose. His works is built around a single, simple word: “You”. Plants and seeds fill the space with life and in this case, another sculptural piece- a bronze chair- is offered to the visitor as a meeting point, for that much-needed dialogue with the other.
