Haby lives with her family in a deteriorated block of apartments. After the sudden death of the mayor of the city, Pierre, an idealistic doctor, assumes command. He is determined to continue at all costs with the neighborhood rehabilitation project, which consists of demolishing Haby’s building. When the young woman and her family discover Pierre’s plan, they will do everything in their power to stop him and to stop the new mayor’s excessive ambition.
LADJ LY
Born in Mali, raised in Paris, director Ladj Ly, released his first feature film in 2019: Les Misérables. Based on his own life and which he portrayed in a short film of the same name in 2017, with which he won the César for Best Short Film, it is a sample of life in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Paris, where dozens of nationalities coexist and which has its own law. Ladj, in addition, has had small incursions as an actor in different films, including The World is Yours (2018) and Dinner with the Devil (2006). Ladj Ly returns in 2024 with Les Indésirables, which was presented at the Toronto International Film Festival and at the closing gala of the Perlak Section, at the San Sebastian Festival.
