MAYORES AL FESTIVAL
Closed session at residences and centers for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Screenings of short films specially selected for senior audiences. Elderly to the festival is an activity inspired by the original idea of ” Nuestros mayores, unos tipos de película”, designed by Manuel and Jorge Aparicio, respectively screenwriter and director of the film Cuatro Veintes.
The session will consist of the short films:

Manuela is obsessed with hand sanitizer and can´t stop making face masks to fight against the coronavirus. She is scared, and worries that her life will never be the same again. An inner journey of deepest anxiety until, after a conversation with her husband Luis and her friend Puri, she understands that life is too short to live in a constant anguish.

Planting a tree has a simple and straightforward purpose. Whoever complies with it will be able to see it grow to rest under its shadow, enjoy its smell, and the song of the birds in its branches. An ineffective and authoritarian regime will not tolerate what is done without consent, however beautiful the action is, if it is intended to seize power beyond reason. A tree takes root to flourish. And eventually, if the visible part is torn away, its essence finds a way to overcome itself to live on.

After recovering from a serious illness that almost ended his life, Adolfo decides to become a copla singer. After a training period, he starts singing in nursing homes, where he will meet people with Alzheimer’s. This group of sufferers becomes his audience, with an incredible and marvelous capacity: although they hardly remember anything, when he sings old songs they remember them and participate in the show.
