The screenings and presentation of the Pepe Escriche and Ciudad de Huesca Carlos Saura awards will feature a performance by the dancer and choreographer Ana Continente.

On the night of May 3, 1808, French soldiers executed, in various places in Madrid, the patriots arrested after the uprising against French troops that took place the day before. This revolution in Madrid determined the outbreak of the war against Napoleon. Goya represented this historical moment in Los fusilamientos del 3 de mayo, the starting point for the recreation work carried out by Carlos Saura. An almost photographic synthesis, both historical and cinematographic that shows the previous moments of these dramatic events.
Carlos Saura
Huesca, 1932. After abandoning his studies in Industrial Engineering, he entered the Institute of Cinematographic Research and Experiences in Madrid. Los golfos (1959), his first feature film, paved the way for neorealism in Spain. He is one of the Spanish filmmakers with the greatest international visibility and has won countless awards and distinctions, among which the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for La Caza, Golden Bear for Deprisa, Deprisa, Goya for best film and screenplay with ¡Ay, Carmela! and several Oscar nominations.

Marisa, a recently retired doctor, decides to travel as a volunteer to a Greek refugee camp where, in her opinion, they need people exactly like her. When she gets there, it becomes clear that she has nothing to do with the others. When she meets little Ahmed, the boundaries between needing to care and feeling useful begin to blur.
Nely Reguera
She graduated from ESCAC. After a season working as assistant director, in 2009 she directed the short film Pablo, selected and awarded at festivals such as Alcine, Gijón, Huesca, Mecal and the Spanish Version Contest- SGAE. Her first film María (y los otros), premiered at the 2016 San Sebastián Festival and won the Feroz Award for Best Actress for Bárbara Lennie and two Goya nominations: Best Female Performance and Best New Director. In 2017 she received the Pepón Coromina Award for standing out in innovation, creativity and risk. On television, she has directed episodes of the series Welcome to the family (TV3), created by Pau Freixas and Valeria (Netflix) by Elísabet Benavent. She also collaborates as a teacher with the Faculty of Communication at Pompeu Fabra University and ESCAC.
Ana Continente
Choreographer, dancer, actress and dance teacher with an important professional career. Her work explores the boundaries between dance and theater. As a choreographer, she investigates improvisation, looking for a unique and recognizable result. In 2005 she created her own company, Ana Continente Danza, and in 2013 she created Espacio Laboratorio La Mejana Project, where she teaches and works regularly for the company.
She is the author of the choreography in the play Habibi Amado, directed by Jesús Arbués, which won the Revelation Show award at the Max Awards 2011. She has also received the Performing Arts and Dance Pedagogy mention at the XII Gala del Teatro and the Ares Escena 2021 award.
