COSMIC EXILE
The New Fears project is part of the research that the author has developed in recent years on the incidence of Science Fiction and B movies in contemporary culture. The drawings recreate a metaphorical imaginary of our current experiences combining different retro-futuristic iconographies, from the covers of Pulps and Space-Operas. These images are reworked, retrieving the elements and the original messages to create a dystopia that ironically finds similarities with the moment in which we find ourselves. All of them are collectively felt experiences that are part of the consciousness that our world is different from that of our ancestors.
Lorena Amorós
Alicante, 1974. Visual artist, researcher and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Salamanca. In her exhibitions and artistic projects, she has analyzed the extremes of self-representation, the back side of autobiography in family albums, and the construction of female subjectivity in distortions forced by cultural factors. In several of her installations she has also addressed the imaginary world of the fan movement and its projections on rock and punk music, as well as other manifestations of the counterculture, such as the incidence of B movies on the collective unconscious. She combines painting, drawing, video, installation and performance in a game of cross references between the different media. She has also developed theoretical analysis essays published in various specialized media. Her work has been shown in several international exhibitions.
