The dates of the 45th edition of Huesca International Film Festival have already been set. It will be held from 9th to 17th June at the Upper Aragonese capital city. An international bench mark for short films, endorsed by the Oscar and the Goya Awards as qualifying festival.
Huesca Festival announces its dates right while calling for submission of works competing at one of the three contests: International, Ibero American and Documentary.
For 9 days, Huesca will again be the core of a format -short film- which is flourishing in our country; ‘last year we have seen how a Spanish short film succeeded at Cannes and is now nominated to the Oscar Awards, but this is just the tip of the iceberg, in addition, it is increasingly more frequent to see acclaimed filmmakers coming back to this format. Short film is stronger than ever and we want Huesca to remain a benchmark’ said Azucena Garanto, artistic director.
Next edition will retain its essence screening shortlisted productions at emblematic Olimpia Theatre with free showings for the general public. The total awards, amounting to €24000, are maintained as in previous editions, with the Danzante Awards as the highest recognition of each competition and the Jinete Ibérico Prize awarding best animation work. One more time the public at the theatre will have the possibility to vote their favourite short film thanks to Aragón Televisión Audience Award. ‘Audience and filmmakers are the key pillars for which the festival works’, added Garanto.
The programme will be completed with feature films, professional activities, meetings, exhibitions and other initiatives which shall be disclosed along next months in order, once again, to attract the audience to the venues, to work as a meeting point for the filmmaking industry and to involve the city with ‘its festival’.
