YOUTH JURY

YOUTH JURY AWARD “ALBERTO SÁNCHEZ”, to the best Iberoamerican Film Debut, worth 2000 € (two thousand euros) and diploma, to the documentary short film CUCLI (Spain) by Xavier Marrades.

Because of its original approach to the subject of love through the relationship between a man and his dove. The jury also highlights the message of altruism conveyed by the documentary/short film thanks to its detailed photography and visual aesthetics.


YOUTH JURY AWARD JUVENTUD “ANSELMO PIÉ” granted by the Anselmo Pié Sopena Foundation, to Best First Work granted with 1.000 € (mil euros) and trophy, to the short film AABA (India) by Amar Kaushik.

Because it offers a culturally different point of view on the subject of acceptation of death and because its beautiful photography creates the atmosphere required for the viewer to understand the main message of the short film.

DANZANTE AWARD, worth 5000 € (five thousand euros) and trophy, to the documentary short film CUCLI (SPAIN) by Xavier Marrades

Because of its ability to use a solid cinematic discourse to find, in a specific manner, universal concepts such as love, loneliness and death and to build with great narrative talent, the character development process.


“JOSÉ MANUEL PORQUET” IBEROAMERICAN SPECIAL AWARD worth 2000 € (two thousand euros) and diploma, to the documentary short film INSIDERS (CHILE) by Sebastián Castillo.

A brave and provocative film that dares to show an uncomfortable subject through an honest and poetic look.


The Jury also agrees to award a special mention to the documentary shortfilm MA FILLE NORA (BELGIUM) by Jasna Krajinovic.

For addressing a very relevant issue in our contemporary world such as religious fanaticism, seen from the family relationship angle.

IBEROAMERICAN SHORT FILM CONTEST

DANZANTE AWARD, worth 5000 € (five thousand euros) and trophy. It will be automatically ranked to enter the Short Films category of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – Hollywood for the corresponding season. To the shortfilm NÉBOA (Spain) by Claudia Costafreda.

A work where all the cinematographic elements subtly merge to achieve the highest aesthetic quality. The filmmaker honestly joins together the subjects of memory and exile. It is a simple story full of emotional sensibility and conducted by and independent female character in search of forgiveness.


CACHO PALLERO SPECIAL AWARD worth 2.000 € and diploma to the shortfilm PREMONICIÓN (Chile. United States) by Leticia Akel.

A consistent story that narrates in its own voice the confrontation between two different visions of the world. The cinematographic language displayed by the director is based on a sober aesthetic composition that merges form, contents and mood in an exceptional way.


The Jury also agrees to award a SPECIAL MENTION to the shortfilm MEMORY OF THE LAND (Spain) by Samira Badran, a film debut which represents a daring and powerful aesthetic approach, forcing the spectator to have an emotional reaction against the current geopolitical conflicts.


BEST SCRIPT IBEROAMERICAN AWARD, worth 800 € granted by Anselmo Pié Sopena Foundation and Association of Bookstores of Huesca to the shortrilm NÉBOA (Spain) by Claudia Costafreda.

Because of its skilful combination of short and precise dialogues and emotionally meaningful silences that let us glimpse into the story of the protagonist. Also because of its choice of an environment that creates an atmosphere of melancholy and languor that highlights the need for closure and to complete the circle of life.

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM CONTEST

DANZANTE AWARD, worth 5000 € (five thousand euros) and trophy. It will be automatically ranked to enter the Short Films category of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – Hollywood for the corresponding season. To the shortfilm PRIMA NOAPTE (First Night) (Rumania-Germany) by Andrei Tanase.

It is an honest, complex and powerful story, with a well-structured script and excellent performances. The short film is about the complex relationship between a son who is suffering the lack of self-stem characteristic of teenagers and a father that needs to help his son to become a man and pays for his first sexual experience.


JINETE IBÉRICO AWARD, worth 2.000 € and trophy, to the shortfilm IN A NUTSHELL (Suiza) by Fabio Friedli.

The director uses stop-motion techniques to create a fast-paced, intense trip through a sequence of different narratives that inspire the spectator to a wide range of emotions, both visual and sound-related. It makes you think, feel and laugh.


Human Values Award / FRANCISCO GARCIA DE PASO, trophy to the best short film to stand out the defence of human values, GRIMIZNO (Scarlet) (Croacia) de Dijana Mladenovic.

It is a situation full of tension against a war background, with a powerful and subtle performance. The director uses the camera to share with the spectator a situation of violation of human rights, without offering final conclusions.


The Jury also agrees to award a special mention to the short film JUNG (Young) (Germany) by Nehemias Colindres.

The combination of rhythm, soundtrack and different cinematographic languages, turns this complex story about second generation immigrants into an outstanding film that moves away from clichés. It inspires tension, emotion and empathy in a story with multiple layers of interpretation.

THE AUDIENCE AWARD

TV (Aragón Television) will buy the broadcasting rights (900 Euros worth) of the awarded work, as well as promote and broadcast them: copyright holders’ consent shall thereby be requested.
