In the framework of 37th edition of Huesca International Film Festival, Diputación de Huesca in cooperation with Gobierno de Aragón, Fundación Borau and the Festival itself has organized the exhibition FURTIVOS-BORAU, the inauguration of which will take place on 5th June in Diputación de Huesca exhibition hall. The exhibition has been organized by Paco Algaba and Chus Tudelilla. Furtivos (1975) meant the consolidation of Borau’s independent career. Being a fundamental film of Spanish cinema which moreover won international recognition in that period of political transition, we have chosen it as a paradigm of a time of social, political and cultural crossroads. Its analysis will allow us to explore and know the background where other “poachers” acted confronting everything, like Borau himself, and opening windows to freedom in the different spheres of creation.

In the structural scaffolding of the exhibition, the film Furtivos is the core around which the rest of exhibition sections are articulated, intertwining in interdependence relationships to compose a singular “Poachers Landscape”:

  1. The nucleus devoted to the film Furtivos is occupied by a film installation with three screens (which relate Furtivos with the short film En el río), together with photographs, scripts, shooting diaries and other working materials.
  2. The “Poachers Landscape” pays attention to the various spheres of creation:
    1. Cinema. An active, changing and panoramic “visual landscape” made up of monitors will build the “forest” where the poachers act. Every monitor shows images of forests taken from different films with the aim of activating this particular and obsessive “background landscape”.
    2. Film magazines. A selection of magazines which let Borau go into film universe, and which reveal the present day spectators the cinematographic panorama from the fifties to the sixties of 20th century.
    3. Literature. A selection of books that illustrate the literary scene of that period with works by Luis Goytisolo, Sánchez Ferlosio, Juan Benet, Juan José Millás, Miguel Delibes, Miguel Espinosa, Luis Goytisolo, Carmen Martín Gaite, García Hortelano, Caballero Bonald, Antonio Colinas, Juan Marsé or Eduardo Mendoza, among many other authors.
    4. Plastic Arts. A selection of works made by such relevant artists as Juan Genovés, Equipo Crónica, Juan Barjola, Equipo Realidad, Artur Heras, Rafael Armengol or Darío Villalba.

The exhibition will come together with the edition of a book that gathers contributions of prestigious authors such as José-Carlos Mainer, Diego Galán, Jordi Balló, José Luis Castro de Paz, Javier Lacruz, Santiago Tabernero, Esteve Riambau, Bernardo Sánchez, Miguel Marías, Rosa Vergés, Casimiro Torreiro and Javier Losilla, introduced by Paco Algaba and Chus Tudelilla.
