JURY OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONTEST
In 1977 he becomes the first and only Central American to win an Oscar with In the Region of Ice as Best Fiction Short Film. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from The American Film Institute. From 2012 he leads the Salvadoran Film and Television Association (Ascine).
After obtaining a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts in London, he is invited by the Education Minister Walter Beneke to return to Salvador so as to launch the project of educational television. He directed and produced films as Femme Fatale, Breach of Contract, Abduction of Carry Swenson, A Perfect Match, Cabalgando con la muerte, among others, and also many television series in the United States and Spain as L.A. Law, Picket Fences and Periodistas, among others.
He was an assistant lecturer at the Film Schools of the University of Southern California and at the School of Music of the American Film Institute of Los Angeles (California). In 2012 he was appointed president of the Salvadoran Film and Television Association (ASCINE) and re-elected again in 2014. He was an adviser of 12 Proyectos Concurso PIXELS Pro Audiovisuales through the Ministry of Economy between 2014 and 2016. Creative producer of Malacrianza. Nowadays he is an adviser for the Film and Audio Visual Coordination Board and has been appointed Special Mission Ambassador by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
