REGULATIONS OF THE IBEROAMERICAN DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILMS CONTEST1. PURPOSEThe Huesca International Film Festival, by means of this contest, aims to the dissemination of film culture. 2. ORGANIZATIONIt is organized by the Fundación Festival de Cine de Huesca. 3. GENERAL CONDITIONSAny documentary accepted by the Selection Committee can take part in the contest and whilst there are no theme restrictions, those dealing with tourism or publicity cannot be presented. The films entered must abide by the following rules:
Documentary Short Films corresponding to Iberoamerican countries will go through to the Iberoamerican Documentary Short Film Contest, and the award-winner from this contest will then participate in the International Documentary Short Film Contest, as will all those deemed worthy by the Selection Committee. 4. REGISTRATIONAll Documentary films entered for competition are subject to the following rules: The application form, fully completed, must be sent to the Secretariat of the Contest before 1st March 2010 together with a copy for the perusal of the Selection Committee. Format for the selection process must be in DVD, and those films whose original version is not English must be submitted with English subtitles. It must be sent by postal service (with the inscription NO COMMERCIAL VALUE) or by courier service stating a value of no more than twelve Euros (12 Euros) to the Festival's address: a/a. Fernando Gaton Copies will remain property of the Festival film library, in order to be consulted if necessary. Along with the inscription form and film copy, there must also be included the dialogue list, synopsis, a minimum of 3 photographs and informative material about the film, as well as the director’s biography and filmography, specifying the original format of his works. This material can be sent with the dvd or by e-mail to peliculas@huesca-filmfestival.com5. TRANSPORT AND PRINTSAll films selected for the contest must be in the possession of the Secretariat before 15th May 2010 as well as communicating via e-mail or fax the date of shipment and means of transport used. The person or group who has submitted the film will pay insurance and shipment costs to Huesca. The Festival will pay for the return shipment of the non-awarded copies. The organizers of the contest will assume the insurance expenses of the films while the prints are in their possession. In case of damage to a print, the Festival’s responsibility does not exceed the costs of making a new print according to present rates for the making of a standard print. The screening of any film may be refused if it does not guarantee the necessary technical quality or a good public screening. Films sent by post or courier service must be sent directly to the premises of the Festival: a/a. Fernando Gaton Films will be returned to the address specified on the application form once the contest has ended. 6. TELEVISION AND INTERNET BROADCASTINGThe participation in the Festival means the authorisation to broadcast extracts of the film in Spanish TV channels and Internet. 7. JURY AND AWARDSThe jury will grant the prize amongst all the short films selected for the official section of the Iberoamerican Documentary Short Films Contest. The decision made by the jury will be definite, their members ensuring to keep their decision in the strictest confidence until the prizes have been officially awarded and the Festival has ended. IBEROAMERICAN DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM CONTESTIt will take place during the course of the Festival and the following official prize will be granted: Danzante Short Film Award is endowed with seven thousand Euros (7000€). The aforementioned prize can't be awarded ex aequo nor remain unawarded. The prize is for the film director, except in the case where it has been produced by film academies, schools or other cinematographic teaching institutions. The winning film will become the property of the Fundación Festival de Cine de Huesca, being able to be placed in film support, Betacam SP or Digital, DV or DVCAM. 8. SPECIAL PROGRAMMESAfter the conclusion of the Festival, those short films that have received awards o special mentions may be shown as Educative and Cultural Programmes, with no profit motive in mind, by which the Festival will inform the authors of such films beforehand. Participants must ensure that they have the right to participate in the Festival with regard to third persons connected with the production of the participating film. Registering a film under this contest means the acceptance of the present rules of the contest. The Board of Directors will decide on any eventualities not mentioned in these regulations and their decision will be final. These regulations are printed in Spanish and English. If any doubt in interpretation arises, the Spanish version will be considered valid. |
