The Director of the Huesca International Film Festival, Ángel Garcés, presented this morning at the Diputación de Huesca the poster of the 38th edition designed by the young Swiss illustrator Annik Troxler. She studied graphic design at the Cantonal School of Art of Lausanne (ECAL).
Her designs have been selected among many design and poster competitions, of which her greatest award has been in 2006 when she won with “Intimities 2005” the Grand Prix of the International Poster Triennale of the Museum of Modern Art Toyama in Japan and with “Intimities 2007” she won the first prize at the International Festival in Chaumont, France.
Troxler’s designs are of an eclectic style with a classical typographic composition with a clean use of colour. The poster of the 38th edition shows a movie theatre hall, that according to Troxler, makes reference to the traditions of the Festival and recalls its main headquarters, the Olimpia Theatre.
The Festival bets for documentaries
Ángel Garcés has also mentioned some of the news for the next edition, that will be one day shorter than all the previous ones. The Festival, which will be held in Huesca from June 4th to 12th 2010, bets for documentary and the importance of Latin American films, thus establishing two separate sections. As of this year, the Documentary Contest will be only for short films, with an Iberoamerican and International section. The main award in both sections will be for 7000 Euros each. As per the regulations by the Academy of Motion Picture Art and Sciences, we can accept short films in any format: video or 35 mm. Furthermore, the number of jurors in each of our contests (Iberoamerican, International, Iberoamerican Documentary and International Documentary) has been reduced from five to three, thus the total number of jurors is reduced from 26 to 21. |
